T-shirt

I've put a t-shirt on Flash to stop him from scratching the wound as it seems to be a little itchy now. I also took the plaster off today and the wound looks very clean and tidy.

Lump removed and x-rays done

Today was the day when Flash's lump was removed and he had his x-rays done.

Ian thinks that it was a fatty lump, but it was under the muscle so in a bit of strange place. He sent it off for analysis.

The X-rays showed yet again nothing. Ian was kind enough to show and explain them to me. As there is definitely a problem, he will send them to Noel Fitzpatrick to see whether he can see anything more and I guess to decide what to do next.

Flash came through it all well, he is sleeping it all off now, but seems pretty bright and ok.

Flash hopping and lump

Today, I took Flash to see Mark since he is still hopping on his right hind at times and I have also discovered a lump on his chest. Mark checked the lump and thinks it is a fatty lump, however, isn't 100% sure as it is a little bit too much attached. So he wants to remove it.

He also can't feel anything worrying about Flash's legs, so wants to take x-rays again and see whether anything has changed since last July's x-rays, then we'll go from there.

I am trying not to worry to much, but it's hard... lumps are always worrying and the leg issue could also be a major issue.

Show report

And here is Flash's glowing show report! The only reason he got distracted at the end of the round was because a collie started yelping and yapping right by the entrance of the ring.

I am so proud of my boy! What a star he is.

3rd. VERA MARNEY and MY FLASH OF LIGHTNING
LURCHER Dog

I really enjoyed Flash’s work, and Vera handles extremely well and works him at a smart pace. This was definitely an if-only round, because if he hadn’t lost that little bit of attention on the last stretch of heel free, things might have been very different. He’s more than capable of winning this class, so I wish you all the best for next year.

YAY - Finally placed: Flash came 3rd in Beginners!

I can't believe it, but we have finally achieved our goal of being placed in an obedience show. We went to Northwest Kent Limit show today. It was a group of over 30 dogs. Flash worked very well, he got distracted a couple of times (windows and a dog yelping), but did a lovely round! And we came 3rd! In fact, the two top ones had a run off, so we actually had the second best result! How chuffed am I and I am so proud of Flash! He's amazing. There are not many salukis with an obedience rosette.

My Graduation Week-end

Yesterday, I had my BSc (Canine Behaviour and Training) Graduation at Beverly Minster. Karen, David and I drove up there in two cars as we took all our dogs with us! I thought it was going to be quite stressful, but in actual fact, the boys were all so good and well behaved, it was no problem at all!

Here's a picture of all the boys ready to go in the Travelodge room.
